Understanding the Challenge
Despite significant progress in recent years, Ethiopia continues to face substantial challenges in maternal and infant health. With a predominantly rural population and limited healthcare infrastructure, the country struggles to provide adequate care to expectant mothers and newborns across its diverse regions.
Ethiopia has made remarkable strides in reducing its maternal mortality ratio by more than 70% since 2000, yet preventable deaths remain unacceptably high, particularly in rural and remote areas where access to healthcare facilities and skilled birth attendants is limited.
